The San Francisco 49ers re-signed safety Ashtyn Davis and punter Corliss Waitman to one-year deals, the team announced. Both players had been released during the initial 53-player roster reduction on Sunday but were not subject to waivers, allowing the 49ers to bring them back.
To make room for Davis and Waitman, the 49ers placed cornerback Nate Hobbs and linebacker Nick Martin on injured reserve. Per Niners Nation, Hobbs is dealing with a groin injury while Martin is sidelined with a hamstring injury.
Separately, Kyle Shanahan addressed George Kittle's status, saying the tight end is "passing everything" and clarifying that any previous comment about a setback was misspoken. The 49ers remain hopeful Kittle will play in Week 1 against the Rams.
