The 49ers released defensive lineman Ogbo Okoronkwo on Friday, the team announced. Per Niners Nation, Okoronkwo appeared in all four games this season and recorded the second-most snaps of any edge rusher on the team. He managed 10 pressures with an 11.8% pass-rush win rate, though he played only 33 run snaps.
The release clears a roster spot for defensive lineman Mykel Williams, who is expected to be activated from the Physically Unable to Perform list, according to NFL Trade Rumors. Okoronkwo, 31, did not produce significant statistics despite his snap count, leading to the decision to move on.
