The Braves have exercised their 2027 club options on outfielder Ronald Acuña Jr. and second baseman Ozzie Albies. Deadspin reported that the club made the move on Thursday. Per MLB Trade Rumors, Acuña will make $17MM next season and Albies will match this year's $7MM salary.

MLB Trade Rumors also noted that these were Atlanta's only option decisions this year, and said there was little suspense. Its writeup says the Braves weren't going to cut either member of their core. Battery Power called it "the no-brainer decision of all no-brainer decisions" and said the club retains the 2023 NL MVP in Acuña. Its feed summary describes his deal as very hometown-friendly. The feed summaries we have don't give the terms past 2027 or say whether anything else changed in either contract.

The on-field numbers show why the decisions were easy. Acuña played 107 games in 2026 and hit .255 with 20 home runs, 55 RBI and a .796 OPS. He had 104 hits, so he averaged almost exactly one hit per game. None of the reporting says why he played 107 of the club's 162 games. Judged by that line, $17MM looks like a modest price.

Albies' season was less impressive on paper but more durable. He appeared in all 162 games and hit .237 with 146 hits, 22 home runs and 73 RBI. His .685 OPS is the weakest of the two players' lines. Even so, his $7MM option is the same salary he earned this year, and he is the club's everyday second baseman.

Atlanta finished 94-68 and first in the NL East. Its most recent games were against the Dodgers: a 3-2 win at Los Angeles on Sunday, Oct. 4, then losses of 3-1 on Oct. 6 and 4-1 on Oct. 7. The Braves are on a one-game losing streak. Battery Power says Atlanta won the NL Wild Card Series over the Phillies, but our own records don't show that series, so we can't confirm it.

With both options settled, the Braves have no other option decisions to make this offseason, according to MLB Trade Rumors. Both players are under contract for 2027.
