The Braves will start Ray Kerr in Game 2 of the NLDS against the Dodgers on Sunday, pushing Chris Sale back to Game 3, multiple outlets reported. Sale came out of the bullpen against the Phillies on Thursday and will not start the upcoming contest.
The move continues Atlanta's recent reliance on bullpen games in the series. The Dodgers trotted out one of baseball's top pitchers, Tarik Skubal, on extra rest for Game 1, putting the Braves at a significant pitching disadvantage early in the matchup, per Battery Power.
