Arizona Cardinals rookie running back Jeremiyah Love has suffered a high ankle sprain, ESPN's Adam Schefter reported Sunday. Love sustained the injury during Thursday's preseason game against the Las Vegas Raiders, in which he played 23 snaps.
The injury will likely keep Love out for the rest of the preseason, according to multiple reports. However, the Cardinals are optimistic about his availability for their regular season opener against the Los Angeles Chargers on September 13.
Love, a first-round pick, had impressed in his early preseason action before the injury ended his appearance against the Raiders.
