CBS Sports has placed Tony Romo, the network's lead NFL analyst, on indefinite leave following his July 23 arrest on suspicion of operating a vehicle while intoxicated. Berson indicated there is "no timetable" for determining Romo's status, and comments from the CBS executive hint at a potential full-season absence at minimum, per Pro Football Talk. Yahoo Sports reported that CBS will consider the "impact on our image" as it weighs Romo's return. Romo has a court hearing scheduled on the OWI charges.
In the interim, CBS has shifted Ross Tucker to the No. 2 analyst role alongside play-by-play announcer Ian Eagle. Kyle Long, who has worked with CBS for six seasons, will take on a main cast role on "NFL Today" for 2026.
