The Arizona Diamondbacks designated outfielder Max Kepler for assignment and recalled catcher Adrian Del Castillo from Triple-A Reno on Sunday, per multiple reports. The moves give the Diamondbacks two open 40-man roster spots.

Kepler, a longtime Minnesota Twin, had his best season in 2019 when he posted a 3.9 fWAR and hit 36 home runs during the Twins' "Bomba Squad" campaign, per MLB Trade Rumors. The timing of the designation comes as the Diamondbacks (75-68) played the Houston Astros (73-70) on Sunday in the final game of their series.
