The Arizona Diamondbacks have reinstated second baseman Ketel Marte from the injured list ahead of Monday's game against the Philadelphia Phillies, per multiple reports. Marte will bat fourth in the lineup for the matchup.
Marte has not played since August 16. According to CBS Sports, the 31-year-old failed to join the team at Fenway Park on August 17 and was placed on the restricted list before being moved to the injured list with a knee issue. Marte described the situation as "a moment of frustration," per CBS Sports.
To open a roster spot for Marte's return, the Diamondbacks optioned rookie infielder Jose Fernandez to Triple-A Reno, per MLB Trade Rumors.
