The Eagles opened 21-day practice windows for guard Landon Dickerson and three other players on Wednesday, according to Pro Football Talk's Myles Simmons. Simmons wrote that the team got several players back on the practice field that day. Yahoo Sports' second item on the move added that the team also made another practice squad signing.

The feeds we have don't name the other three players, and they don't give the injury behind each placement. Bleeding Green Nation's Brandon Lee Gowton wrote that the team announced the moves Wednesday afternoon and that he would go through them player by player. The only detail of his that reaches us concerns Dickerson. He became eligible to return from injured reserve after the Eagles' Week 5 game, and Gowton described the three-time Pro Bowler as looking like a shell of himself in Week 1, when he played through an injury. The feed cuts off before saying what the injury was. Opening the window lets a player practice. It does not by itself put him on the active roster.

The timing matters because of how the season has gone. Philadelphia is 2-3, second in the NFC East, and has lost three straight. The skid began with a 27-7 loss at Chicago on Monday, Sep 28. It continued with a 24-20 home loss to the Rams on Oct 4. Last Sunday the Eagles lost 19-17 at Jacksonville, a game they dropped by two points after scoring 17.

The Eagles host Carolina on Sunday, Oct 18. Nothing in the reporting says whether any of the four will be ready for that game, and the practice windows alone don't settle it. Dickerson's condition in practice over the next few days is the thing to watch, given Gowton's description of his Week 1 play.

One item in the feed set is a separate story. Pats Pulpit's Oliver Thomas reported that New England coach Mike Vrabel announced at his Wednesday press conference that the Patriots have opened windows for receiver A.J. Brown and tackle Marcus Bryant. Thomas wrote that both now have a 21-day runway to be activated. The Patriots are 3-2 and have won two straight, and they host the Jets on Sunday, Oct 18.

The Eagles' own timeline comes down to the next three weeks. Each of the four players has 21 days to be activated, and Carolina on Sunday is the first game he could play in.
