The Guardians have completed a trade with the Nationals to acquire left-hander Foster Griffin, per multiple reports at the 2026 trade deadline.
Per MLB Trade Rumors, the Nationals will receive four players in the deal: left-handers Will Dion and Josh Hartle, right-hander Kendeglys Virguez, and outfielder Nick Mitchell. Griffin signed a one-year, $5.5 million free agent deal with Washington this past winter.
The trade came as the deadline passed with the Astros also in the market for pitching depth, according to MLB Trade Rumors, though they ultimately pursued other options.
