Pittsburgh Steelers cornerback Joey Porter Jr. remains noncommittal about playing in Week One if he doesn't receive a contract extension before the regular season begins. When asked directly, Porter said "I don't know. I would have to talk to the guys upstairs and my agents about that one."

Porter, a 2023 second-round pick, is set to return to practice Tuesday after spending the offseason on the Physically Unable to Perform list with a reported back injury. Per Yahoo Sports, the Steelers have signaled they won't continue contract negotiations into the regular season. Meanwhile, three other players from Pittsburgh's 2023 draft class have already received big-money extensions this offseason, though Porter has not.

The Steelers open their season against the Atlanta Falcons at Acrisure Stadium in less than two weeks. No reports suggest a contract deal is close to completion.
