LSU closed its roster at 105 players Tuesday by adding two current student-athletes, per ESPN, effectively blocking the addition of former NFL players Dae'Quan Wright and Zxavian Harris who had sought to play for the Tigers under head coach Lane Kiffin.

The decision came after a judge allowed the return of ex-NFL players to LSU, creating a window for the program to add them. Instead, the Tigers filled their remaining roster spots with existing student-athletes, locking in their roster for the season.

The move arrives amid an ongoing legal battle between LSU and the SEC. According to Yahoo Sports reporting, the SEC filed an amended lawsuit Tuesday against LSU and is seeking to potentially expel the Tigers from the conference over eligibility disputes regarding fifth-year and professional players. The SEC is set to vote on LSU's future in the conference Sept. 10. Yahoo Sports also reported that the potential expulsion could affect LSU's schedule, including a game against Tennessee and Kiffin's return to his former team.
