Orlando Magic guard Jalen Suggs has a mild bone bruise in his right knee and will be re-evaluated in two weeks, the team announced on Twitter, per Hoops Rumors. An MRI showed the bruise and no other structural damage. ESPN, Sportsnet and Deadspin all describe the bruise as mild and say he will miss at least two weeks.

Yahoo Sports adds how it happened: Suggs' knee buckled as he went up for a layup on Sunday night at Madison Square Garden. Hoops Rumors calls the outcome an apparent escape from a major injury, and Sportsnet opens by saying the Magic "can breathe a sigh of relief." The summaries we have don't say when in the game the injury happened or whether he left the floor. They also don't say whether the club has set any activity restrictions.

Suggs finished the 111-102 win at New York with 4 points on 2-of-8 shooting, including 0-of-3 from three, in 34 minutes. He also had 6 assists, 6 rebounds and 3 steals, with 4 turnovers. Orlando outscored the Knicks 40-27 in the fourth quarter. The Magic shot 18-of-42 from three as a team against 9-of-38 for New York, and Anthony Black (18 points, 5 threes) and Tristan da Silva (19 points) had the best plus-minus figures, +21 and +20.

Orlando is 1-1 in 2027 and third in the Southeast, on a one-game winning streak. That follows a 132-125 home loss to Atlanta on Oct. 21 and a 136-115 win over Miami on Oct. 16. Suggs' season line in our tables stood at 1 game, 32.0 minutes and 2-of-8 shooting before the New York game was counted. Those tables do not yet show how much work he will leave behind, so his minutes will have to be covered from the guard group. Black, Desmond Bane and rookie Jase Richardson all played in New York.

The Magic play next at Toronto on Wednesday, Oct. 28, and Suggs will not be in the lineup. Two weeks from the announcement puts his re-evaluation around Nov. 9. The reporting calls that a re-evaluation, not a return date.
