According to reporting, Moore took a hit to the head as he was sliding on a scramble. CBS Sports described it as a "massive hit" and a "violent late hit," while Yahoo Sports called it a "scary hit." Moore lay prone on the ground for several minutes before being carted off the field, per multiple outlets.
USC defender Desman Stephens II was identified as the player who delivered the hit. Yahoo Sports reported that Stephens II was criticized both for the hit itself and for his reaction to it. Following Moore's injury, Oregon backup quarterback Dylan Raiola entered the game.
