Kristaps Porzingis will remain out indefinitely with a health-related issue, the Warriors said in a statement on Tuesday. Hoops Rumors, citing the team press release, reported that he has missed training camp and the first five preseason games. Per the same report, he returned to the practice facility Tuesday and met with GM Mike Dunleavy Jr. The Hoops Rumors summary cuts off after that, so who else was in the meeting is not in the material we have.
The nature of the problem is still not public. Yahoo Sports' Andy Backstrom wrote that it is unclear what Porzingis is dealing with, and ESPN described it as a private health-related issue. ESPN added that he will be around the team while he is out. Yahoo's headline quotes him as "getting better and better," though the summary we have does not show where that line came from. CBS Sports' Robby Kalland reported that Porzingis spoke publicly for the first time on the matter and tried to quiet some of the online rumors about his absence. Yahoo also said he addressed a "frustrating" situation. The feeds we have do not say which rumors he addressed or what he said about them. Golden State Of Mind noted that the Warriors' statement lists him as a forward/center. ESPN calls him a center.
His last season of record was split between Boston and a lower workload than usual. He played 42 games in 2025, averaging 19.5 points and 6.8 rebounds on 48.3% shooting, with 63 blocks. That is the scoring and rim-protection profile the Warriors are now without. The 2025 figures are the most recent in our archive, so we cannot say what he was expected to do in Golden State's rotation. The 42 games also fit a career in which he has not topped 72 games in any season we hold.
The Warriors finished 37-45 and fourth in the Pacific. Their last three games are a 101-89 win at the Lakers on Tuesday, a 111-106 win over Sacramento on Saturday, and a 123-118 loss at Portland on Oct. 7. Our data lists their streak as L3, which does not match that sequence of results. The record and the streak tell different stories, and we are passing both along as they appear.
The next game is Friday, when Portland visits Golden State. Porzingis will not play in it. The Warriors' statement gives no return date, and none of the outlets reports one. The regular season opens in about a week, and he is not expected to be available then either.
