To clear a roster spot for Rutschman, the Red Sox designated catcher Jake Rogers for assignment, per MLB Trade Rumors. Boston also transferred infielder Isiah Kiner-Falefa to the 60-day injured list.
Rutschman has a history of success against Toronto. Per Over The Monster, he has hit exceptionally well against the Blue Jays throughout his career, both at Rogers Centre and elsewhere. Tonight's game will feature Rutschman catching pitcher Patrick Sandoval, according to Yahoo Sports.
