According to a Reddit post, the error occurred when Red Sox baserunners misread the number of outs displayed and thought there were two outs when the ball was in play. The confusion led to the Blue Jays turning a double play on the play. The Blue Jays ultimately won the game 2-1, with Charles McAdoo hitting a solo home run and Andres Gimenez recording the game-winning RBI.
The victory gave Toronto a win over Boston, which entered the game on a three-game losing streak.
