Vita Vea and the Buccaneers have agreed to a one-year extension, per Pro Football Talk. The deal ties Vea to the team through 2027 and includes $30 million in new money, ending a contract impasse between the defensive tackle and the franchise.
Vea addressed the agreement on social media, saying "Home is where the heart is, my heart is in Tampa," per Pro Football Talk. The signing comes as the Buccaneers prepare for the 2024 season following a disappointing 2023 campaign in which the team started 6-2 before collapsing. Vea has since defended head coach Todd Bowles regarding last year's decline.
