The Warriors have begun exploring trade routes for center Kristaps Porzingis, ESPN's Shams Charania reported, citing league sources. Porzingis remains out indefinitely. Charania also reported that he is now seriously contemplating his future in basketball as symptoms of postural orthostatic tachycardia syndrome (POTS), an autoimmune condition, keep recurring.

The outlets differ on how the illness is described. ESPN's main report calls it a "private health issue" and does not name it. Hoops Rumors, Yahoo Sports and Golden State of Mind put the POTS label on Charania's reporting. Yahoo adds that Porzingis was first diagnosed with POTS in 2025. Golden State of Mind says its own commenters had guessed POTS before the report came out. CBS Sports says he missed the entire preseason and that his future with the Warriors, and as a professional, is in doubt. Hoops Rumors notes that he is eligible to be traded despite signing a two-year contract. Its summary is cut off, so we don't have the rest of the contract terms. None of the feeds we have name a suitor, a asking price or a timeline.

Porzingis's last appearance in our archive came on April 17 at Phoenix, when he scored 11 points in 15 minutes. His last full line in our tables is from 2025: 42 games, 818 points (19.5 per game), 284 rebounds, 87 assists and 63 blocks, shooting 48.3 percent. That season is credited to Boston. The sources don't say what role the Warriors planned for him, or when he joined them.

Golden State finished last season 37-45, 16 games behind the Lakers in the Pacific. The team has started this season well. It beat Sacramento 111-106 on Oct. 10, won 101-89 at the Lakers on Oct. 13, and beat Portland 128-118 on Oct. 16. Those wins came without Porzingis. Any trade would involve a player who has not been on the floor this fall.

The Warriors play at the Lakers tonight, and host Memphis on Friday, Oct. 23. The reporting gives no deadline for a deal and no word on whether Porzingis has made a decision about playing. Both are the next things to watch.
