The Chicago White Sox hosted a pope hat giveaway game Tuesday night, celebrating Pope Leo, a Chicago native and White Sox fan, per ESPN. The team distributed black and green hats shaped like a mitre to fans at the game.
The giveaway drew a sellout crowd, but the White Sox lost to the Cincinnati Reds 5-4 in 10 innings. Elly De La Cruz drove in automatic runner Matt McLain with a sacrifice fly in the top of the 10th to snap a three-game skid for the Reds, per ESPN.
