The Hawks beat the Cavaliers 114-111 at State Farm Arena on Thursday night. Onyeka Okongwu led the way with a season-high 29 points and 12 rebounds, per the Associated Press and ESPN. Yahoo Sports framed the game from the Cleveland side: James Harden scored 24, and it was "another extended lead created by the Cavaliers, another one lost."

The box score backs up the lead story. Okongwu shot 11-of-17 and made 4 of 6 from three. Five of his 12 rebounds were offensive, part of a 15-9 Atlanta edge on the offensive glass and a 53-45 edge in total rebounds. His three-point shooting stands out against his early-season numbers. Before this game he had been shooting 37.5% overall and 0.7-of-4.3 from deep per game, across three games.

Nickeil Alexander-Walker added 25 points on 8-of-17 shooting. Deadspin noted he made two crucial free throws with 15.3 seconds left. He was 5-of-5 at the line. Jalen Johnson had 17 points, 8 rebounds and 7 assists, per Sportsnet, though he also had four turnovers. Aaron Wiggins gave Atlanta 20 points off the bench and a game-best +17.

Cleveland led by as many as 15 to Atlanta's 11, but the Hawks held the lead for 57% of the game. Harden shot 7-of-14 with three threes and seven free throws. Donovan Mitchell had 22 points but shot 7-of-19, including 1-of-9 from three. Cleveland shot 13-of-42 from deep (31%) to Atlanta's 17-of-43 (40%). The Hawks also won the fast-break count 15-4. Deadspin described the finish as Atlanta withstanding a late Cleveland push.

Atlanta is 2-3, third in the Southeast, and has won once after losses to Houston (120-110) and Miami (129-117). Cleveland is 3-2, second in the Central. Its first four results included a 127-125 win over Minnesota and a 121-111 win over Washington. Yahoo's Ian Casselberry also noted that this game's afternoon scheduling at State Farm Arena forced the Dream to play WNBA Finals Game 6 earlier in the day.

Both teams play again Saturday. Atlanta visits New Orleans, and Cleveland goes to Milwaukee.
