The Dolphins have claimed guard Christian Haynes off waivers, not the Ravens. Earlier on Wednesday, Baltimore announced on its social media that it had claimed Haynes. Adam Schefter reported that the announcement was a mistake. Miami also submitted a claim, and it sits higher in the waiver order than Baltimore, so the Dolphins were awarded him. Pro Football Talk's Myles Simmons framed it the same way: Miami added Haynes "with higher waiver priority."

The early coverage got the destination wrong. Yahoo Sports first ran a piece saying the Ravens needed depth on the interior of their offensive line and had claimed a player. Its other item, headlined "Former Seahawk Christian Haynes claimed off waivers," says the Ravens Dolphins claimed him. That reads like a copy edit made partway through. Yahoo's later version carries the Dolphins headline. NFL Trade Rumors' Logan Ulrich titled his update "Dolphins Actually Claimed G Chris Haynes," using a different first name from everyone else. Everything else points to Christian.

The outlets add few details about the player. Ulrich writes that Haynes is 26, was a four-year starter at UConn and earned second-team All-American honors in 2022. Yahoo says his time in Seattle is over. None of the reporting says why he became available or what Miami plans to do with him. It also gives no contract terms and no injury information. Our archive has no game entries for Haynes, so we can't say what his workload has been this season.

For the Seahawks, the move closes out a short chapter. Seattle is 4-3, second in the NFC West, and coming off a 20-3 win over Kansas City on Sunday, Oct. 25. It hosts Chicago on Monday, Nov. 2.

Miami needs help wherever it can find it. The Dolphins are 1-5 and fourth in the AFC East. Their one win was a 28-25 victory at the Jets on Oct. 25, after a 31-24 home loss to Cincinnati and a 15-10 loss at Minnesota. They host New England on Sunday, Nov. 1. The reporting doesn't say whether Haynes will be on the active roster for that game.

Baltimore goes without him. The Ravens are 4-3 and have lost two straight, 13-10 at Cleveland and 35-13 to Cincinnati. They travel to Buffalo on Sunday, Nov. 1. The sources don't say whether the Ravens will pursue another interior lineman after losing the claim.
