The Kansas City Chiefs will be without two starters for their season opener against the Denver Broncos on Monday night, per head coach Andy Reid. Left tackle Josh Simmons is ruled out, as is safety Chamarri Conner.

With Simmons unavailable, the Chiefs will turn to undrafted rookie Kahlil Benson to start at left tackle and help protect quarterback Patrick Mahomes, per ESPN and Pro Football Talk. The loss of the two starters means Kansas City will be short defenders on both sides of the ball for the Week 1 matchup.
