Commanders receiver Terry McLaurin was carted off in the first quarter of Monday night's game at San Francisco after going down with a knee injury. Yahoo Sports reported he left in an air cast. Pro Football Talk said the team ruled him out. The Associated Press, via Sportsnet, put the timing in the second quarter. SB Nation said the Commanders "quickly" ruled him out for the rest of the game and described the injury only as a knee injury. None of the reports we have gives a diagnosis, and none gives a timeline beyond tonight.

McLaurin had one catch before he left. It went for 27 yards on his only target, per the box score in the game. That was his longest reception since Week 3. Through four games he had 14 catches for 203 yards and a touchdown on 26 targets. His previous game, against the Giants, brought 4 catches for 62 yards.

The game has gotten away from Washington. The 49ers lead 20-3 at halftime, and Washington has 90 total yards to San Francisco's 303. The Commanders are 0-for-4 on third down and have taken two sacks. Jayden Daniels is 7 of 10 for 88 yards.

SB Nation's David Fucillo named Stefon Diggs as the leading receiver now that McLaurin is out. He listed Antonio Williams, Dyami Brown and Treylon Burks as receivers who could see more targets, and tight end Chig Okonkwo as another option. At halftime Okonkwo leads the team with 2 catches for 35 yards, and Diggs has 2 for 17. Only SB Nation's feed summary lists that group, and the summary is cut off.

NFL Trade Rumors added that McLaurin is 31. It said he was the No. 76 overall pick out of Ohio State in 2019 and signed a four-year, $3,962,594 rookie contract.

The injury adds to a rough stretch for Washington. The Commanders came in 1-3-1, last in the NFC East, with a 27-27 draw against the Giants, a 30-13 loss to Indianapolis and a 33-31 win over Seattle. Javon Kinlaw was also injured on the 49ers' last touchdown of the half, a Christian McCaffrey run. San Francisco came in 5-0 and leading the NFC West. Washington's next game is at home against Philadelphia on Sunday, Nov. 1. Whether McLaurin plays in it depends on a diagnosis the team has not yet released.
