The 49ers beat the Commanders 23-17 on Monday Night Football at Levi's Stadium and stayed unbeaten at 6-0. They built a big lead early, then had to hold on at the end. Pro Football Talk reported that Washington had two drives deep into San Francisco territory in the final two minutes with a chance to win. Neither produced a score, and the Reddit highlight thread shows the game ending on a Jayden Daniels sack.

San Francisco led 13-3 after the first quarter and 20-3 at the half. George Kittle caught an 11-yard touchdown from Brock Purdy early. Christian McCaffrey then scored from a yard out twice, though Eddy Pineiro's extra point failed after the first. Drew Stevens kicked a 51-yard field goal for Washington. Pineiro added a 33-yarder in the third. ESPN described the second half as a furious Commanders rally, and Niners Nation called it a second-half letdown. Washington scored in the third quarter and the fourth. The fourth-quarter score was a 1-yard touchdown pass from Daniels to Stefon Diggs. The feed text for the third-quarter touchdown is cut off.

The box score shows how close the second half got. Purdy was 21 of 29 for 264 yards, one touchdown and no interceptions, and he ran for 28 yards. McCaffrey had 16 carries for 64 yards, plus nine catches for 53 yards. Mike Evans had three catches for 94 yards, including a 54-yarder. Daniels threw for 300 yards on 29 of 40 with two touchdowns and no interceptions. Washington gained only 53 yards on 17 carries and was 3 of 12 on third down. San Francisco lost a McCaffrey fumble, committed 11 penalties for 88 yards, and sacked Daniels four times.

Washington is 1-4, fourth in the NFC East, after a 27-27 draw with the Giants and a 30-13 loss to the Colts. It hosts Philadelphia on Nov. 1.

San Francisco has now won six straight, including a 32-29 win at Seattle on Oct. 11 and a 24-14 win over Denver on Oct. 4. Niners Nation's recap notes that Evans started at receiver with Jordan Watkins opposite him. It also says Jordan James returned the opening kickoff to the 36 and Kaelon Black converted a third-and-1 on the opening drive. The box score has James with two kick returns for 58 yards.

The NFC West is falling behind San Francisco. Field Gulls noted the Seahawks needed help after their Thursday loss at Denver. They are 3-3 and second in the division, on a two-game losing streak. The Cardinals beat the Rams 18-16 on Sunday and are 2-4. Field Gulls described that game as a disastrous home loss for the Rams, who are 2-4 and dealing with injuries.

San Francisco next plays at Atlanta on Sunday, Oct. 25. Seattle hosts Kansas City that day.
